The Dittisham/Dartmouth Castle Trip
A typical trip:
This is one of our most popular trips. Pick up your hire boat, and take a trip out towards Dartmouth Castle, it is amazing how different Dartmouth looks from the River. Then turn the boat around and go all the way up river to the village of Dittisham. It is only short distance up river
to the village of Dittisham, it takes about half an hour each way. Dittisham
village has a couple of great pubs,a village shop and a café. There is a convenient jetty for mooring the boat, and
taking a trip ashore to the pub, shop or café. The jetty is a haven
for crabbing, and there are often children boasting catches of well over
100 crabs. (All of which are thrown back, many I suspect three or four
times a day!) There is even a seal, which swims past occasionally.
Boat house on the River between Dartmouth and Dittisham.
There are numerous creeks to explore, further up river and you could go all the way up to Totnes,
(tide permitting), this is a beautiful and fascinating
trip.
Opposite Dittisham is Greenway House and gardens, which was Agatha Christie's
estate, open to the public throughout the summer.

View out towards Dartmouth Castle from Bayards Cove.
